Kunde in Tibet

Registered UK Charity 1079189

KDF is about action for sustainable development in the hard places: the off-the-beaten-track places, the places which for whatever reason are difficult to get to.
We wish to invest our lives in those who have few opportunities to make changes for the better in their own lives.
We look for the gaps in the services, knowledge & opportunities, then we see how we can assist in plugging those gaps.
Kunde means health & well-being for all. The year 2000 has come and gone & not everyone has good health, but health for all is still a goal worth aiming for.
Kunde works with the Prefecture Health Bureau, the 12 Health county bureaus, & different communities.
What are our aims & what do we do?
  • assist the health bureau to have a good quality well functioning service, close to where people live.
  • help people, particularly those in more distant rural areas to have the information they need to make decisions to improve their own lives, and those of their community.
  • Support to the health service
    • Train Doctors
    • Support effective supervision
    • Build clinics - designed & constructed by the communities themselves
    • Provide basic equipment
    • assist leprosy control & rehabilitation of people suffering disabilities, from leprosy or big-bone diseases.
  • Improve lives through :
    • Training village volunteers in healthy life styles who can in turn train others.
    • better nutrition & kitchen gardens, coldframes, green houses & a seedbank
    • better sanitation through safe (fly/dog/pig proof) ventilated compost latrines
    • safe water supplies
    • small irrigation systems
    • skills development to improve economic potential
    • loans of domestic animals
